The History of Jubilee Christian School
Jubilee Christian School
In 1986, a handful of parents gathered to discuss the formation of a Christian school in the South Hills. Their goal was to have a parent-supported model that would foster life-long learners using an integrated curriculum from a Christian worldview.
Instill a Love of Learning
In September 1987, one teacher –Mrs. Mary Wolling –and five Kindergarteners met in a classroom at Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church, Mt. Lebanon. The families began to talk to others about the success of the integrated curriculum academically and spiritually, and its ability to instill a love of learning.
Grade Level
From 1988-1993, a grade level was added each year as needed. Mrs. Wolling served as both principal and teacher during those years.
DePaul Institute
In September 1998, our staff and students began meeting in the DePaul Institute, which enabled combined classes to be split into separate classes and instructional units.
Jubilee Christian School moved Facility
In September 2002, Jubilee moved to facilities in the education wing of Mt. Lebanon United Presbyterian Church (now Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church) and increased staff to support a growing enrollment and expanded curriculum.
Jubilee Introduced Engaging Components
From 2015 through 2017, Jubilee introduced engaging components to its curriculum such as Lego robotics, Junior Achievement programs, andhealth studies. Extracurricular programs such as Snapology courses and running club (in conjunction with JCS participation in the Kids of Steel/Pittsburgh Kids Marathon) and have been added to expand after-school offerings.
Thirty Year Anniversary
Jubilee celebrated it’s 30-year anniversary with a Gala at The LeMont. It was an evening full of celebrating God’s faithfulness and blessings.
